THE PEACE WITHIN
Continuing to Honor The International Day of Peace
by Thomas P. Bonacci, C.P.

The mind can go in a thousand directions,
but on this beautiful path,
I walk in peace.
With each step, the wind blows.
With each step, a flower blooms.
Thich Nhat Hanh

I love the expression, “Peace in every step.” For many people, peace is a practice, an attitude of life, touching every moment of every day. Imagine a World where people walked in the ways of peace, respecting and honoring everyone they met.

It is important to dream, envisioning the World we desire to create. Imagination is the language of the heart by which others are blessed, and the World is transformed.

I have another thought I would like to share with you today. Peace is not made. It is shared. Peace is indeed an attitude of life originating from the heart of anyone who desires to bless another.

Pause now in the present moment. Realize the peace in your heart. Discover the peace underneath the conflicts, troubles, and hurts. Cherish the peace with you. You are able to claim this peace whenever you so desire.

Now share the peace that is within your heart. Release it to the World around you. What a wonderful gift you are giving in the moment called “now.” Turn every conflict into an opportunity to bless others.
