June 3, 4 and 5, 2011
All are welcome!
Sarah, Hagar, Kuan Yin, Sophia, and Tara, to mention a few, will bless us with their wisdom as we seek to discover, hear, and celebrate the voice of women in ancient texts and contemporary society. This retreat program is open to men and women who desire to probe the feminine images of God and humanity embedded in human history. We will explore powerful and inspiring texts from the Hebrew Scripture, the Hindu Scriptures, the Buddha, the Tao, Universal Lady Wisdom, and the New Testament. The recovery of the voice of the feminine makes possible the recognition of the dignity of both men and women as together we struggle to bless our world with peace, compassion, and healing justice. The feminine voice emerges in men of spirit and women of courage. Come listen to your soul’s wisdom.

July 17-18,19, 2011
The Church formally prays that “marriage is the one Grace not lost by sin!” Our Retreat for Married Couples will explore the powerful implications of that beautiful and important perspective. The practical, emotional, and committed love found in marriage offers hope to the world. The “someday” peace, love, and understanding we seek for the world is already realized in the love of so many people who have committed themselves to following Jesus as married disciples of his love.

The Rise of the Golden Rule
The period of time between 800 BCE and 200 BCE is now known as “The First Axial Period.” This crucial time of world upheaval resulted in a new understanding of God and a serious reformation of the world faith traditions. The ethic of compassion became normative in those traditions now influencing our world. Our exploration will consider the importance of the First Axial Period as we cope with the turmoil in our own time.
