The Interpath Principles – December 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 by Susan Batterton

Dear Friends,

More than twenty-five years ago, when the Interfaith Peace Project was in its earliest stages of development, I met a man named Richard who made the streets his home. Richard was a former University Professor of English Literature. As our conversations progressed, he shared one of his poems. The first verse is striking:

I long for peace in all the world
I am thankful for the peace in my heart today.

I never met Richard again, but he, and many like him, became the mentors of the Interfaith Peace Project. Their wisdom, courage, good humor, and humility continue to bless us.

Despite his troubles, Richard was deeply concerned about peace in the world. Richard possessed the peace he wished for others. That chance encounter taught us much. We need to meet one another and learn from one another.

My friend set in motion what would become the Principles of the Interfaith Peace Project. These are not rules we use to judge, but a simple expression of what we have learned from our mentors and friends over the years. Today, we use the more inclusive title, Interpath Principles, to refer to the many ways people discover the meaning and splendor of life.

The Board of Directors and the Advisory Board composed, edited, and amended The Interpath Principles, which form the spine of our work and philosophy. These Principles reflect the shared wisdom we discovered from people like Richard. Please Click Here for a copy of the Interpath Principles.

In honor of our Twenty-fifth Anniversary Year, we share these Principles with you with gratitude, respect, and love. May this Holiday Season, however you observe it, bring peace, joy, and love to you and all the world.

Peacefully,

Thomas P. Bonacci, C.P.
