PEACE IS ACHIEVED IN THE POWER OF THE SELF TO DREAM
Continuing to Celebrate the September 21st
International Day of Peace

Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.
Dr. Mae Jemison
First African-American Female Astronaut

Vision reflects the hope of a people especially in difficult times. If I can envision peace in my life as it is, I discover the wonder of my heart, mind and soul. When others would be my enemy and I see and envision them as my friend, I begin to imagine what no nightmare of oppression would ever permit. I need no one’s permission to be myself. I am made in the image of peace. Peace is in my soul. I need only release my peace as I claim my imagination to work for a World where no one fears to make their dreams a reality.

In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings,
we pay ourselves the highest tribute.
Thurgood Marshall
First African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice

If I permit no one to destroy my imagination, I see in them the humanity they deny in me. In such a moment, I am blessed and my heart is liberated from the necessity to hurt another. I honor the dignity of another without becoming their victim. I set an example inviting them to claim their own human dignity by being free of any temptation to oppress or injure another.

The most common way people give up their power
is by thinking they don’t have any.
Alice Walker
American Novelist, Poet and Activist

No belief or philosophy or culture or way of life will be permitted to compromise the power I have as a human being. I have a right and a duty to imagine, hope, and work for what is right, just, good, and true in the World. The power of my mind to seek the truth will not be compromised by lies. The power of my soul to dream will not be compromised by the nightmare of injustice. The power of my heart to love will not be compromised by hatred.
