Dear Friends,

In honor and celebration of The International Day of Peace, Thomas P. Bonacci, C.P., is sharing a daily reflection from various sources from September 11 to September 21, 2020. Today is Day 6 of those reflections. If you missed some of the reflections, you can find them on our website (under Blogs), interfaithpeaceproject.org.

“The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.”

Love is the most universal, the most tremendous and the most mystical of cosmic forces. Love is the primal and universal psychic energy. Love is a sacred reserve of energy; it is like the blood of spiritual evolution.

The Spirit of the Earth
Pierre Teilhard Chardin, 1931

The great mystics of all times see the way things truly are. The Universe in which we live gives us life and the opportunity to see and behold the beauty and splendor of the World around us. We need to open our eyes and see what is around us. We can see the stars of the heavens shining in the eyes of everyone we meet if we would truly practice “seeing” with the eyes of our hearts.

Some people worship by looking at the beauty of the images of the gods and goddesses. Some uplift their minds in prayer as they see the splendor of the stars. Some close their eyes that they may see deep into their souls. Wherever we look we can see the creative works of the Universe surging around us. Our very ability to wander and wonder is born of the Universal impulse to create and give life.

We are the children of the stars. Some now think the Universe is alive.   She is our Mother birthing us into the energies of her soul. She knows through us as we exist through her. We are still coming into existence. There is much we do not know. The ignorance baffles us as our curiosity becomes an infinite drive. Above all, we want to know why is there so much violence and mistrust? The answer may be very simple. We are not yet what we are meant to be. We are still being born into the higher consciousness of love.

When we realize our ability to love, we become a source of great peace in the midst of conflict and division. We are evolving with the Universe into the Higher Consciousness which is Love itself. It has been written: “God is Love.” We commit to practicing in the here and now the love unfolding in the Universe.

RESPONSE

I will release all the love in my heart each and every day.
I will release the love which created me to everyone I meet.
I will experience the love of the Universe when the wind blows and the rain falls.
I will honor the Earth and love her when she cries out in storm, earthquake, and drought.
I will realize I am made of love.
I will join the greatest of the cosmic forces in loving the next person I meet.
