IN HONOR OF A NEW DAY IN AMERICA
Continuing to Celebrate the September 21st International Day of Peace

Let the day come when skin color, tone, or shade is not the measure of one’s dignity,
Let us go forth recognizing the commonality and oneness of our human family,
realizing the dignity and rights of each and every person.

Let the day come when the culture of the many will inspire the wisdom of us all,
Let us go forth with a deep respect for the cultural diversity of humankind.

Let the day come when a Black child can play in the park,
and laugh and sing, and dance,
Let us go forth learning from the wisdom of the children
who see one another as friends.

Let the day come when the Black / White divide will be seen for what it truly is,
Let us go forth embracing our diversity and difference
as we bless one another with creativity and uniqueness.

Let the day come when the worthwhileness of being human
is not based on wealth and money,
Let us go forth with a deep desire to help feed, clothe, comfort,
and support one another.

Let the day come when all women will be recognized for who they are as a person,
Let us go forth respecting and celebrating the uniqueness of every person we meet.

Let the day come when gender diversity and sexual identity
celebrate the splendor of love,
Let us go forth to cherish, foster, and celebrate
love in all its beautiful expressions.

Let the day come when our borders are places of refuge, welcome, and safety,
Let us go forth to greet the stranger with love and respect.

Let the day come when all peoples are allies of one another,
Let us go forth realizing injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.

Let the day come when those who suffer and die are not forgotten,
Let us go forth to comfort and console.

Let the day come when we no longer wait for what is right, just, and good,
Let us go forth being the change we seek in everything we do.
