Laudato Si and the Year of Mercy
On Care for Our Common Home
The Encyclical Letter of Pope Francis

Listening to the World Church, gleaning the best scientific evidence, appealing to the Tradition born of Scripture, St Francis, and inspired by the example and teachings of believers, Pope Francis responds to the ecological crisis threatening our common home.  This important and timely encyclical challenges the peoples of the World to realize our interdependency and responsibilities to care for the Earth in this age of globalization.  Our progress must not result in our destruction.  The encyclical explores the moral and ethical implications and responsibilities we all incur in light of the growing ecological crisis.  In other words, we must be merciful to the World around us as everything was fashioned by the Mercy of God.
