Dear Friends,
In honor and celebration of The International Day of Peace, Thomas P. Bonacci, C.P., is sharing a daily reflection from various sources from September 11 to September 21, 2020. Today is Day 3 of those reflections. If you missed some of the reflections, you can find them on our website (under Blogs), interfaithpeaceproject.org.
“The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.”

Celebrating The International Day of Peace
MAY WE REACH OUT WITH THE PEACE IN OUR SOULS
TO EVERYONE
TO EVERYONE
May the refugee find safe shelter
May the immigrant find a new homeland
May the hungry find enough bread to have a feast
May the feared and hated find welcome and care
May the imprisoned find the self-worth to be free
May the oppressed find enough justice to have liberty
May the slave child find enough love to flourish
May the abused might find enough dignity to have fulness of life
May all people everywhere be strong enough to claim their dignity
for the well-being of everyone everywhere all the time.
RESPONSE
The Peace I discover in my heart is the gift of the Universe reborn in my soul. If anything should afflict me personally, I will reach out to other suffering beings.
I am aware that I am sometimes conditioned by culture and belief to fear others. I will transcend my conditioning by claiming my inner dignity for the sake of the World.
As the Evening comes upon me, I will rediscover my Inner Peace.
As The International Day of Peace approaches, I will pledge to let my Inner Peace become manifest in my outreach to others.
