On March 9, 2014, a beautiful Dedication ceremony was conducted by the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers for a newly planted Peace Pole in the East Bay. The site selected for the pole was provided at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 16642 Ashland Avenue in San Lorenzo. This was a part of an ongoing Interreligious Community commitment to “Let There Be Peace On Earth” by celebrants in that community of both the Catholic and Buddhist faith traditions, the Buddhist Temple being located within one block of St. John’s Catholic Church. The Dedication ceremony was graced by speakers from the leadership of both faith traditions, as well as songs by the children of the community. A wonderful luncheon followed.
