The Interfaith Peace Center in Antioch, CA
Much to our surprise, the beloved Interfaith Peace Center of The Interfaith Peace Project in Antioch, CA will close this summer. This is a sudden event that gives us pause to thank all our friends who have blessed us over the years. The Interfaith Peace Center, for all its humbleness, enjoys a worldwide reputation as a House where all are truly welcome and all Faith Traditions are honored.
We have pursued the practice of Interfaith Spirituality in our gestures of hospitality and welcome, study and research. Many important meetings and encounters were held there as people from all walks of life and age committed themselves to the practice of peace in all the affairs of their lives.
I am especially grateful to the Board of Directors who have worked hard to forge the vision of The Interfaith Peace Project. We owe a debt of gratitude to June Kirk, the Director of the Center. Her sense of welcome and gracious sensitivity has blessed hundreds who came to our doors.
Finally, I join with the Board of Directors in thanking Evie Viera and David Isenberg for their generosity and support in offering the Center at a cost affordable to our outreach and work. Their kindness made the idea of our Center possible.
In the weeks to come, we hope to invite you to our new home. We will do our best to find a new Center continuing the tradition that was born on Matterhorn Way. Much depends on availability and costs. In any event, the work of The Interfaith Peace Project will continue. Continue to visit us in Antioch. If you would like to schedule a future program (of any size or location), please call or e-mail us. Again, thank you for your love and support over the years.
