IT WAS LIKE FIRE BURNING WITHIN US

Our on-going reflections on the Gospel of St. Luke are open to anyone who would like to savor the details of the narrative in a prayerful, contemplative, and justice seeking manner.  It is not necessary to attend each session.  The individual presentations are designed to stand alone.  Notes and translations will be provided for each session.  Our text of choice is the New Revised Standard.  We will explore the Gospel of Luke as a New Testament document with attentiveness to historical sources and cultural developments which might have influenced Luke’s understanding ad presentation of the gospel of God revealed in the person and work of Jesus of Nazareth.  Luke portrays Jesus as a Galilean prophet motivated by the out-pouring of God’s Holy Spirit.  This Spirit, according to Luke, influenced the communities of Jesus followers then and, by implication, now.
